Nick Renshaw - Visual Artist

The exhibition Ad Hoc I presents both recent and earlier work of six artists who have each at various times exhibited work at Galerie De Witte Voet during previous years. The work I exhibited for this show was presented for the first time outside of the United States having been made previously during a period of work as McKnight ceramic artist in residence at the Northern Clay Center (NCC) in Minnesota in the US. The works presented were Deep White Suspension II (2007), Durable Pioneer Theme (2007) and Recent History Moment (Copper Statuary Figure) (2007).These three works were part of what was a much larger series of sculptures first exhibited at NCC in 2007 in the exhibition 5 McKnight Artists. These works were inspired by the cultural identity of the Twin Cities and the specific materials and location of their manufacture. Ad Hoc I was the first in a series of themed exhibitions held by Galerie De Witte Voet during 2017 which all demonstrated the breadth and diversity of artists and their work presented during the previous four decades of the gallery's work.
